Alice is more than a place. It’s a namesake. In fact, Alice is named for our owner Daniel’s great-grandmother. And if you want to see the moment he told his mother about this tribute, we have the moment on film (well, Instagram, but you know).
Our Italian taverna in Cambridge, MA was designed to feel like coming home: a warm, lively room in the heart of Kendall Square where house-made pasta, wood-fired pizza, and seasonal Italian cooking are served with genuine care. Signature and seasonal cocktails with an Italian accent, a spritz round where your bartender can choose your adventure, and a spirit-free list crafted with equal love. The wine cellar leans Italian and French with worthy California detours, from easy by-the-glass pours to special-occasion bottles, and the beer list keeps local taps in rotation.

Oh, and for the curious at heart, here’s a secret worth keeping poorly: beneath Alice, hides Monarch, our speakeasy-style cocktail, small plates, and dessert lounge. Dinner upstairs, a nightcap and something sweet downstairs.

Where is Alice located?
You’ll find us at 238 Main Street in Kendall Square, Cambridge, next to Eastern Edge Food Hall and a short walk from the Kendall/MIT Red Line stop. Street parking and the Hayward Garage beneath our building off Wadsworth Street make driving easy too.
When is Alice open?
Alice is open daily, serving lunch and dinner through the week and brunch on weekends:
Lunch: Monday thru Friday 12-4:30
Dinner: Monday thru Thursday 5-10, Friday and Saturday 5-11, and Sunday 5-9
Brunch: Saturday and Sunday 11-4
Do I need a reservation at Alice?
For dinner and weekend brunch, we definitely recommend one. Lunch is happily walk-in friendly, but if you’re bringing a bunch of co-workers or a larger party, we encourage you to reserve a table just in case. Book anytime through OpenTable, and know that our bar always keeps a few seats for the spontaneous.
Is it true Alice has a speakeasy, too?
The rumors are true! Monarch is our speakeasy. It shares the same address. Alice is the taverna upstairs; Monarch is the hidden cocktail and dessert lounge below. Many of our guests favorite evenings involve both. We encourage you to poke around and see if you can discover the entrance!
Does Alice offer takeout or online ordering?
Yes! If you’d rather enjoy dinner at home, you can order online pickup through Toast. Our house-made pasta and wood-fired pizza travel surprisingly well, just saying.
